A quality certificate is a document proving that merchandise meets specific technical specifications for composition, purity, performance, or manufacturing. It can be issued by the manufacturer (manufacturer's certificate) or by an independent accredited laboratory. In foreign trade, it is required for certain goods such as chemicals, metals, food, and pharmaceuticals. It differs from a NOM certificate in that the quality certificate verifies technical product specifications, while the NOM verifies compliance with Mexican regulatory standards.
