The official document filed with Mexican customs that covers the entry or exit of goods from Mexico, prepared and submitted by a licensed customs broker.
The pedimento is Mexico's equivalent of the U.S. Customs Entry (CBP Form 7501). It is the primary fiscal-customs document required for all goods entering or leaving Mexico, containing detailed information about the merchandise, its tariff classification, customs value, and applicable duties.
The pedimento is regulated by Articles 36 and 36-A of Mexico's Customs Law (Ley Aduanera) and must be filed electronically through the SAAI system.
For U.S. companies exporting to Mexico, the pedimento is filed by the Mexican customs broker (agente aduanal) on behalf of the importer of record. Understanding its components helps ensure smooth clearance and compliance with Mexican customs regulations.
