The automated selection mechanism (mecanismo de selección automatizado), commonly called the 'fiscal traffic light', is an electronic system that determines whether goods presented for customs clearance must undergo physical inspection or can be released freely.
Regulated by Article 43 of Mexico's Customs Law. The system uses risk-based criteria in addition to random selection to determine outcomes.
