Importer Registry

Importer Registry and Specific Sector Registry

The Importer Registry (Padron de Importadores) is a mandatory registration with SAT for any individual or company that wishes to import goods into Mexico. The Specific Sector Registry is an additional registration required for importing certain sensitive products.

Requirements

  • Active RFC with tax obligations current
  • Verifiable fiscal address
  • Valid electronic signature (e.firma)
  • Not on SAT blacklist (69-B)
  • Power of attorney to customs broker

Compliance steps

Verify tax status

Confirm RFC is active, no tax debts, and address is verified.

Apply for registration

Process Importer Registry enrollment through the SAT portal with e.firma.

Sector registry

If applicable, additionally request enrollment in the Specific Sector Registry for the merchandise type.

Power of attorney

Register the power of attorney to the customs broker who will handle clearances.

Keep current

Maintain the registry current by complying with tax obligations and address updates.
