Also known as: Complemento Carta Porte, CFDI Carta Porte, Waybill
A document covering the transport of goods by land within Mexico, mandatory as a CFDI tax document supplement since 2022.
The Carta Porte is Mexico's fiscal-logistics document that covers the movement of goods within national territory. Since 2022, it must be issued as a supplement to a CFDI (Mexico's official digital tax receipt), giving the SAT full traceability of all merchandise moving by road, rail, air, or sea domestically.
Operating without a valid Carta Porte can result in vehicle and merchandise seizure, plus fines ranging from $760 to $14,710 MXN per missing CFDI.
For international trade, the Carta Porte is particularly important for the domestic leg of imported goods: from the customs port of entry to the importer's warehouse. The carrier must issue the CFDI with Carta Porte supplement before starting the transfer.
