Trade compliance is a moving target. Tariff rates change, sanctions lists are updated weekly, trade agreements are renegotiated, and regulatory requirements evolve constantly. Manual monitoring is not only labor-intensive but error-prone. A single missed update can result in penalties, shipment delays, or loss of trade privileges. KYB's automated alert system acts as your compliance watchdog, monitoring multiple data sources and notifying you when action is required.
KYB organizes alerts into five categories. Before configuring individual alerts, decide which categories are most critical for your operations and who should receive notifications for each.
Navigate to KYB > Alerts > Document Expiration. Here you can set up multi-stage alerts that escalate as the expiration date approaches. Each stage can have different recipients, ensuring that the right person is notified at the right time.
Group document types by their typical renewal timeline. Import licenses that take 60 days to renew should trigger their first alert at 90 days, while certificates that can be renewed in a week can start at 30 days.
KYB continuously screens your supplier and customer database against government restricted party lists including OFAC SDN, BIS Entity List, Denied Persons List, and international sanctions lists. Configure how the system handles matches and potential matches.
KYB monitors the Federal Register, CBP bulletins, and trade agreement updates for changes that affect your specific products and trade lanes. To enable this, you need to define your product scope and trading partners so the system knows which changes are relevant to you.
Always enable immediate alerts for antidumping and countervailing duty changes. These can change your duty rates overnight and affect the profitability of in-transit shipments.
Compliance gap alerts analyze your import entries in TIM and flag any that are missing required documents, have incomplete data, or show inconsistencies. These alerts help you catch issues before they become audit findings.
KYB supports multiple notification channels: email, in-app notifications, SMS for critical alerts, and webhook integrations for external systems like Slack or Microsoft Teams. Configure each alert category with the appropriate channel based on urgency.
After running your alert system for a month, review the alert analytics dashboard in KYB. This shows how many alerts were generated, how many were acted upon, and how many were dismissed as irrelevant. Use this data to fine-tune your alert thresholds and reduce alert fatigue while maintaining compliance coverage.
“The best compliance program is one that prevents violations before they occur. Automated alerts transform compliance from a reactive function into a proactive one.”
